Ok, so after reading about problems with Soundstorm being associated with hot southbridge temps, I installed a Zalman NB34JB with Artic Silver Adhesive on the southbridge... BUT i'm still losing sound after plaing Splinter Cell periodically. Am I missing something here?

To be a little more descriptive, I don't experience the crackling that others reported with Soundstorm. Instead, I lose some soundeffects during Splinter Cell and occasionally WC3 after about an hours worth of gameplay... Ambient sounds and other soundeffects still come out, but I lose speech and other soundeffects, like gunfire, in Splinter Cell.

Anybody got some more idea on fixes? I would like to make buying a PCI soundcard a last resort...

Thanx.

I think I had SplinterCell's sound cut out as well, I generally needed to do something like go to the configuration screen or something and it would turn back on. Funky.

I'm running EAX2 settings on Splinter Cell and high audio - I have Logitech Z560s connected analog to the Soundstorm. I ran into the same problems with low audio load settings and EAX disabled.
