I have a friend who's running a Soundblaster Live! w/ the 686b VIA SouthBridge. This gives her the nifty little problem of not being able to transfer large files over the IDE chain. She's running an Intel PIII 800EB on an Asus CUV4X motherboard. Is there any way to fix this particular problem? I've heard that there are fixes for it, but I've had no luck in finding any. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Motherboard manufacturers are supposed to have a Bios update that addresses this yummy Via problem "yesterday." Asus was never accused of caring too much about the owner's of their mainboards.
