I just put in a new MuseXL sound card and now whenever there is any sound playing during heavy load times, the sound stutters or skips. Sometimes it's so bad that a song will seem to slow down when I load a graphics-intensive web page. It does not skip when I use integrated sound. Is there any solution to this?

Well Im not exactly sure of the math, but my FSB is 150.

It may be worth noting that on integrated sound, there is no skipping.

My sound does that when i run some graphic intensive demos. I have not gotten around to checking if it is the oc... let me do that now i guess.

I dropped my OC to factory 1100 MHz. I still have problems.... I am running a PCI 512 by SB. I was wondering if anyone has the same problem. Any idea on how to fix it?

I'm at stock and my sound stutters when I do something that takes a second of the CPUs time.

its just common sense, Your trying to do something thats CPU heavy.. thus something has to give up its cycles, which is usually sound, until the calcs are done for the action at hand.

Thus the skipping.

nothing you can do about it, except maybe get a faster computer.

Yeah i was thinking about it while working on my brothers honda after i ran the little test and decided that it was probably hogging clock cycles on the system bus..... makes sense.

update time:

I have been running on integrated sound for a day or two now, and I can say with quite a bit of confidence that the sound only skips in Generals now.

I stopped OC'ing and it didn't help. Made it worse actually. All this seems to agree with the CPU cycle theory exept one thing:
on my old mobo this didn't happen. It had integrated sound also, but it was a different chip. I was using a different CPU then also. It was a 1700 tbred a. Now I have a 1700 tbred b.

That's all I got. Lemme know your thoughts.
