Alright, I dl'ed the new chipset drivers from abit, and now my sound is all screwed up. I have only noticed it in counterstrike. After I play for awhile, all the sudden the sound becomes very distored and crackles.

When I close cs, then it's fine. Also, when I click on the systemtray icon to open up the audio options, the send error box pops up.

Has anyone else had these problems? Is there any way I can dl a newer audio driver somewhere? I rolled back 2 drivers, and now the systemtray icon works, but sound is still messed up.

I have these same problems in my thread about onboard audio. everyone tells me that the southbridge needs cooling. if its that simple to fix. by all means.

ive had the random distorted sound bug as long as ive had my au13 (nforce2). from what i hear its caused by the southbridge getting hot, but havent tried putting a bigger hs on there yet.

That makes sense. Sorry, I must have missed that thread. I did a couple searchs and must have missed it.

My case is at MOST 27C, I wonder why the SB is getting so hot? Can anyone recommend a good SB cooler that doesn't require modding (or at least not that much :) )

Is the chip with "nf7-s" on it the southbridge? (i'm still a nooblet)

Incidently, as i just found out this morning after a complete format *twice, damn nachi <_<* there are new nforce drivers out. 3.13.
you might pick these up and follow the instructions listed on that page. I will have to install some games and test out whether the acpi fix helps but the line in mute makes sense.
