I have a P3 500 (katmai) slot 1 but even if I increased 25Mhz with the manual option of Soyo´s BIOS I get a General protection error while Windows tries to boot or fail booting with Linux. The board temp is 43C is that too high (no overclocking)?
Please, this mobo is driving me crazy and I think the problem is the p3.
If you know something please, let me now

I've been running a +IV since April. Up until July, I was running an old PIII 550 Katmai retail CPU. It ran great at 650 MHz with the core set at +10%, or 2.2V. You must increase the core voltage to O/C those Katmai CPUs.

It's a great board. Since July I've been running a PIII 700 @ 994 MHz rock stable. No problems or issues of any kind in over 7 months.

Sounds to me like your memory is holding you back at the current settings. Try dropping it to CAS3 latency setting and 6/8 timing cycle in order to give it more oommpphh
