I just got my new rig up. My temps seem a little high. Im currently at 44idle 47load with a 24C case/board temp. CPU is 208x11.5@2392 Vcore1.725. I want to go higher but anymore Vcore and my temps start pushing into the 50's

Does this seems normal for a SP97 with Vantec 90mm Stealth? Maybe I need to reseat the sink? Also the NF7-s reports diode not socket like Asus right?
TY

don't worry about high temps unless you plan on keeping that cpu for the next 2 decades. even if it goes above 50 load, it will still last you a good 5 years at least. unless you plan on having that cpu for the better part of the next decade, i wouldn't worry about it. crank that chip up and get 2.6 out of it :)

Thanks for the reply Noc. Easy for you to say. LOL

Im not worried now, but when I up the Vcore it get unreasonably high temps. It would push 60C if I let it. Just wondering what some other peeps are getting with there SP97?

ic ic, well with my tt volcano 12 i was getting high 50's and that was w/o my ac on with terrible ambient temps. when my ac was working and it was nice and cool in my room i had around high 40's full load. i'm getting a sp-97 soon with a tornado fan to see how it goes. i expect probably around 3 degrees in drop but other than that i won't expect much till my ac is working again.

Franchize, your temps seem pretty reasonable to me. that is alredy quite a high overclock out of the chip, so you can expect higher temps.
and remember, the 90mm stealth fan you have is not made for the best cooling possible, it is a low airflow, low noise fan. so there is not a lot of air blowing through your heatsink. to get better temps would probably mean to either duct or replace the fan.

NF7-S reports socket only.
With MBM5 you cannot access the diode temp at all, unlike the Asus.
Your diode temp is likely several degrees higher than what you are seeing.

Ok Ty guys. I'm going to lap this thing. Probably even order a new high cfm fan as well. Guess the panaflo's seem popular.

One last thing.... Does anyone know of a "how to" or post on aligning mounting the SP97 with the motherboard. Im thinking i may not be sitting on the die properly. Im just a little cautious as not to crack it.

I ran 53-54C under load with a SP97(lapped to 1200) with a tornado at 7V on a 2500M at 2700 at 2V. I changed to water because the tornado was irritating even at 7V.

I have a 3200+ with a SP-97 with a 56cfm 2800 rpm thermaltake fan and i had to reseat the thing like 3 times and now im idle at 43C, im about to buy a 92mm delta HHE to get it in the 30's...i've only had it a couple of days too and i was rather upset about the high temps as well, it would hit 51 under load which isn't terrible but its also nothing to brag about.

thats not that bad considering the fan you are using, franchize, in order to align it properly i believe you have to screw it on like you would screw on a car tire. tighten one screw a little then tighten the opposite diagonal corner and vice-versa.

You guys were right. I think i must've been good. I took out my board and reseated the HS and now im at like 49 idle 60 load. Now i have to take it out again and reseat it again.

Edit: 1 more thing guys, Is it better to have the HS tight on the CPU die or just enough to touch it? Obviously too tight would crack the die.

I think all your temps seem a bit high.. Mine runs around that temp with higher voltage and higher speed.. I would get a better fan if you can.

I'm not sure about the AMD version of the HS, but on my slk-948, you tighten the screws down until they stop... they engineered it so it wouldn't crack the cpu, but I'm not sure about the AMD's b/c you guys don't have the IHS.

BTW austin, nice choice on the fan! :D Here's a link if the rest of you guys want to look at the Delta HHE... LINK

73 cfm @ 42 dB ... not to shabby, gave me the temps in my sig

Good Looking Out.

Im a play with this some more while I wait for a Delta. I' ll let you know how i made out when i get it.

Yeah, I bought my HSF as well as my slk-948 there... their prices are reasonable and their shipping is fast.

BTW, if you guys want some 120mm Delta case fans, WA2 is selling some over in the cooling classifieds. You have to do some soldering or modding to put a 3 or 4 pin molex on them, but that only took me like 5 minutes. They put out 80 cfm, and I can just hear mine when it's at full speed. I wouldn't use them as a HSF, but they make great case fans.

Here's the update for you guys.

I got my Delta HHE. I also got 2 80mm TT smart case fan
(Pretty Sweet IMO) with the PCI contoller to replace the 2 stock 80's in my case. Im feeling good now here are my temps.

Medium speed (which is where I plan on running these)
21c Ambient, 29c Case, 22c MB / 37.5 CPU Idle, 25c/45.5c load

"Now thats what I'm looking For" Said Franchize.

High Speed (Anyone able to withstand the noise?)
21c Ambient 28c Case, 22c MB/35.5CPU Idle, 23c MB/ 42.5 CPU load

Low Speed (Cant even hear them over my PS fans)
21c Amb., 31.5c Case, 24c MB/36c CPU Idle, 29c MB/47.5c CPU @load

At high speed this thing unbearable. My VACUUM is quieter! At medium i'm very much pleased as I cant even hear the TT"s over the Delta. The Delta isnt that loud either.I have it at full speed(No controller) and it isn't as loud as the SF2 on my other rig. At low the TT's still hold up with a 47.5 at load. Not too bad considering my case went to 35c.

Btw. MTB, glad I took your advice and ordered the HHE's when I did LOL. Sidewinder was extremely quick with the shipment as well.

Yeah, I sent them an email and they said it could be a couple of months before they get the HHE's back in stock :( Glad everything worked out for you, though :)

Nice temps  If your case temp drops to around mine, you'll most likely be at the temps in my sig. Very nice job on the cooling.
