I have a 3200 newcastle with the stock cooler. As you know the 70mm fan runs not much over 3,000rpm's.
Well I remembered I had a 70mm fan from my old Volcano 7+ in the closet.
I even had the speed switch! It fit perfectly with the screws from the volcano. So now I can run this fan up to 6,000 rpm's! I'm running it at 4,700 now and already dropped my temps 4C under 100% cpu usage.
So cool.

So loud.......I remember having the ThermalTake (read ThermalCrap) Spark 7+ on my prescott - crappy temps and loud as hell at 6k rpm. I dont miss it.

I'd hate to stand up to Tt, but their coolings are probably intended for Northwoods, my friends northy stays in the lower 20's with a Spark 7 at close to minimum RPM. But, there is always something better than Tt, Nice job Stratcat.

yes. I had a Volcano 11+ (same as the spark 7+ i believe) it was the loudest fan and it did a horible job of cooling. I dont miss it @ all either.

How cold is his room? If it is in the lower 20's, then his room would have to be around freezing.

Usually my friend keeps his room around lower to mid 20's. That isn't freezing, my room right now is 18C lolz
There is no way that the CPU can be at the same temperature as the room, probably a problem with the sensor.

doesn't he realize that after to many fans, it will actually generate heat, and warm up the computer more?

somewhere on these forums, it was stated that each fan adds like 5Watts of heat.

if he really does have 15 fans thats 75 extra watts of heat he's pouring into his computer.

i'm sure he could get the same temps, if not better with less fans, all oriented in a good manor, to give him the best airflow, with at little resistance as possible, while at the same time, providing a good intake of fresh cool air, and an exhause of hot air.

4700 rpms still seems a bit much don't u? i thought most of the cpu fans are around 2500. i'm sure u can still hear it.

Well Of course I can hear it but it's not loud at all and hey it was a free upgrade.

Maybe check Freezer64 - that's not loud. My friend had Tornado7+ and gave me fan to play a bit - that was like vacuum cleaner.
