I just brought this game home from Gamestop, brand new. I installed it without a hitch. Now, when I click the icon to get into the game, it wants my cd key. That's cool, right? I shouldn't have any troubles, considering I got it from the store. Well, lo and behold there was an issue with the cd key.

Apparently there is an "installation keycode" and a "cd key". The cd key is located on the back of the inside booklet while the installation key is located inside the actual game case. Every time I try to type either one of those when it asks me to, however, it always says it's invalid. Can anyone here confirm which key I use and what could possibly be the problem?

Note: I did notice that my cd key is separated into sections of four digits, but the very first section is only 3 digits long.

i just bought the game recently for 10 bucks ($13 total) myself. try looking on the main splinter cell forum. i think i saw someone there with a similar issue.
i dont remember if it forces all caps, but if it doesnt try typing all caps?

Hahaha! Believe it or not, it was an actual misprint with the cd key :p

I called Ubisoft tech support and asked about the problem. It turns out that there was a "B" that was printed as an "8" on the cd key, lol. He said he couldn't remember how many people called with that particular issue.

Tell me about it. Sheesh. But, I can say the game was worth the trouble. Fantastic graphics and all around engrossing gameplay. It's one of the more 'complete' single player experiences I have had in a long time, if that makes any sense.

Make sure you dont lose your instruction booklet!!

Had to go digging for mine the last time I reinstalled it. Had to do the same with Sid Meier's Pirates too

yeah :D i just made it up to the mission in japan. i went through all the other missions without killing anyone... but i wasnt in a good mood so i made sam fisher into a one man deathsquad on that one :p
