strange behavior with Firewire card

I am finishing putting together my K7D but I found one strange thing so far. I can shutdown from within the BIOS or after leaving WIndows and the system will shut down completely. However, as soon as I insert a working Adaptec Firewire card into a PCI slot, when I shutdown the system does turn off the display but it does not shutdown. The power button does nothing and the system locksout in this "semi-off" stage. I have to turn the system off manually by using the power supplys' ON/OFF switch. If I remove the card, the system returns to "normal" behavior.

I know the card works since I just took it off my "slower" PIII system and I have been using it with my Ipod. On the K7D system Win2K recognizes the card OK - shows no conflicts. I have tried the card in PCI slot 7 and 6 - same behavior. Kind of weird. Any suggestions?

I don't know why it is doing that, but I know I have heard of that problem before. Do a search here, and at 2CPU's forum, and I'll bet you can find an answer.

aftermath,

I forgot to mention that I downloaded and installed the latest BIOS (V1.82) early on. I also just looked in the MSI web site and saw nothing about this particular problem.

I will search on 2CPU's forum like cmcquistion recommended - maybe I will find something there :)

Thanks,

William
