What can be causing them?? I don't have my CPU overclocked, and I didn't have my Video card overclocked. But every once and a while my computer will just restart.... then when it boots up again, it forgets it has a keyboard (USB keyboard), and I have to use the power switch on the back of the PSU to make it see the keyboard again. any ideas??

I suspect that it's either the PSU, or the SLEEP key on your keyboard (if it has one).

What brand/wattage is your current PSU and have you checked your voltage reading lately?
Do you have a USB hub in your keyboard with devices attached?

Check the power management settings in your BIOS (Wake-On_lan can be a culprit for random restarts) and check the PC Health Monitor to make sure your voltages aren't strangely low.

Happened to my cousin, we tried lots of things. It was on a cheap ecs board. It would boot up in the middle of the night for no reason, and shut down for no reason. He be playing a game or something and out of the blue, bang it restarts.

Ive heard of things like this and the idea of checking out wake on lan has come up before. However I dont even know what wake on lan does I dont fool with is.

My cousin got a new board and all problems solved, with all the same hardware so it will more then likely be something to do with the motherboard. Perhaps a bios update, but make that your last resort cause a bios flash has its risks.

Well if you can't find a solution, it's more than likely the motherboard is going bonkers. My sisters laptop has developed similar problems as if it were possessed.

It wakes her up in the middle of the night sometimes by booting on it's own :)
I hate laptops.

The vast majority of the time, either the PSU or heat cause random restarts. My first suspect would be the PSU.
