I didn't see anything during a search so forgive me if I missed something or if this is normal.

I unlocked my XP today... I used Defogger paint... and it booted just fine... then I changed the multiplier to 10x instead of the default 10.5x... seemed ok... then I upped the FSB to my normal 143. No post. I figured something wasn't right with the unlocking... so I did it again.

Went through the same steps again... now if I go into the bios and change the multiplier or fsb and select "Save changes and exit" it will reboot but not post. I have to hold the power button for 4 seconds to let the system shut down and then push it again and power up... during post and everything it says the right speed and it reports the right speeds in windows... just curious why it doesn't post on the first try :eh?:

Someone? I'm totally lost on this one... it does it even at default fsb... I really hope I didn't do something wrong :(

Ps... I know its not the ram... default fsb and it still happens :eh?:

unlock weirdness

Any oddity, and I don't hesitate to scrape the defogger off and try it again (have unlocked 3 times).

But if it works on a reboot, maybe its weirdness caused by the motherboard. I remember seeing odd probs (not necessarily having anything to do with unlocking) where it wouldn't work on the 1st try, but booting again and it'd work. Motherboard issues. Try to reset cmos or maybe a bios update... slim chance but it might help.

Other off-the-wall ideas: Leave cmos battery out overnight. Remove and reseat cpu. Look at all the other (non-L1) bridges and makes sure no defogger got in them. Clean cpu pins with alcohol, dust out cpu socket with canned air.

I think I found my problem... here it describes it as a problem with the northbridge... I'll take a look tomorrow and see if thats my chip
