i posted this in the application thread but it seems its not a popular thread so I figgured I would get a quicker response here, plus it does involve cpu's

click 'calculate' select "1M" press ok, let it run. the final time in sec you get is often used to compare systems. i get 31 sec for instance.
running the "32M" test is often considered a cpu stability test as well

34 secs for me,but I found that I had to up the vcore to 1.5 to get it to pass.Strange as I can game for hours and it works fine.will leave it at 1.5 for now and see if prime will run

is the 1m setting a good quick test for stability?say if it passes the 1m scale then you can try higher mhz as its probally stable?I have the comp at 2550 right now (seeing I had to raise the vcore anyways)and it passed the 1m scale at 33 secs

you know what's weird? my comp passes 32M at 2.8ghz, but fails prime 5 minutes into a torture test. so, no i wouldnt trust the 1m test as a true stress/stability test.

whats even weirder is that im running 2600 mhz right now at 1.5vcore and the cpu temp has dropped to 32 while it was 37 b4 plus core center reads it different then mbm5

now that i cant explain. it's probably the sensors being stupid, though.

That doesn't surprise me, as I read a thread where Hoot posted about odd results from his MSI motherboard also I believe. Same sort of issue.

Nothing wrong with the sensors, something wrong with the interpretation.

yeah on reboot it seems to have gone back to normal,Im running 2600 1:1 2.5,4,4,8 1T at 2.7v mem and 1.52 vcore. Is 1.52 a safe vcore?I think it will be stable here if I dont run the risk of burning it up,temps are showing 34 idle and 48 load(still lower than it was at 2500mhz)system temps are 25.Think I may have gotten a good overclocking chip(for once in my life)Gona let it run here for awhile to see if it will be stable.

prime wont even go 2 secs here maybe upp the vcore some more.

EDIT: well Im not trusting prime as other stress tests run and are running as I type at lower vcore.Gona try the real world test and use it for awhile.

which prime test were you running? did you set it to realtime priority in the task manager?

no I didnt...Im not too familiar with these stress tests
I did the blend test and I get an application error as soon as I click it
I did the max heat test and it wont go 2 secs.
I used the cpu stability test(another app)and it runs fine, funny cause it has a prime test in it and same for hot cpu tester(which has a prime tester in it).I didnt test for complete stability as I havent had time but it will run much longer without errors than prime will.Like I said I will give it the real world test in games as this is how the comp is used 90% other 10% is encoding and just net browsing.

oh yea, i got 31 on the SSE2 patched version of super pi, 32 sec on the standard version.

What's the SSE2 patch? I've only ever seen the Prescott patch (SSE3).

it's a version of super pi that uses the SSE2 instruction set for faster calculations. i got in on XS, look around for it.

my 38s in superpi looks relatively lame compared to your scores. i am using the standard and not the sse2 version though.

ran cpu stability test for over 6 hours last night and it ran without errors,I know prime is the most common stress test but I cant get it to run.current settings 260x10 1.52v but jumps to 1.55v.ram at 260 2.5,4,4,8 1T 2.7v.guess i should put it in the overclocking sticky as it seems stable according the cpu stablility test.
