Considering the Ultra - D specifically and moving the hardware in my sig to it. Are there any known issues with my hardware and the DFI Ultra-D?

I don't need SLI, just a basic board I can do some moderate overclocking with.

All your hardware "should" work with the Ultra D, my only reservation is the power supply.
I'm not a big fan of Antec, since I had a 550 trupower die after 8 months.
DFI recommends a "minimum" of 480 watts/ 24 pin.

Make sure you connect all FOUR power connectors on the board, and you should be fine.
I would consider upgrading the power supply if you change to a more power hungry graphics card.

WestMass,

Thank you, still undecided. I'm going through what appears to be a DFI type of "Severe CMOS Clear" right now, several times. If I can understand why this happens, I may get a better board such as the DFI or make adjustments with what I have.

I am aware the Antecs aren't the greatest, but has been adequate for me so far. If the problem is not a weakness of my board and it's a PS issue, I'll probably change when I get some answers to a couples PMs I sent out.

Since DFI has this problem, maybe it's something else.

Hey RT, i'm switching over to DFI also. Not that there's anything wrong with the current board i'm using, just that I'm gonna give the DFI another shot. I had both the Ultra-D and the Expert and I could not get any board to run right. The Ultra-d was more stable than the Expert tho with the little oc I had. Hopefully with the DFI SLI-DR it'll be different :)

Neb,

To tell the truth, I don't know what I'm doing! Couple problems on this board were my own and a couple others I still don't know what it is (was). Right now it's running First Class. While the DFI has a good reputation, I shudder to think about learning all their BIOSes have to offer. I'm too old for this crap! :D

If there comes a choice, it's an Ultra-D or an Asus A8N SLI. It gets to the point where all I want to do is turn it on and have it work, I don't care where the "sparkies" come from.

LOL, I hear ya! Heck the A8N Sli Deluxe was the board I traded for when the Ultra D and the Expert gave me so many problems. I got to the point all i wanted was to hit the power button and have it work, I did'nt care if it oc'ed or not. I had all this high-end hardware and could'nt get either board to run with it. The A8N-Sli Deluxe is a sweet board. Few options in bios for the ram, voltage and HT and that's it. It's like : "Set it and forget it" . Heck @ my age i'm too old, and i'm 45!

Good luck with any board you go with. :)

I'm staying with this until it goes or I go to the looney bin. ASUS for me is preferred because like this board, it's an Asus and I know the BIOS fairly well. I don't need or want a monster overclock or all the extras. Friggin' computers....:bang head
