I have read that System temp is different from Case temp is that right? I was told that it is read from the northbridge. This would explain why my cpu temps are lower than my case temps.

Normally, CPU temps lower than system temps means you have inadequate case ventilation. Hot air is blowing from the HS onto your mobo and then that air can't escape so it builds up.

Actually most case temps are read from a chip called Winbond chip. If you look close enough, you might see a chip like that on your motherboard. On my Asus that is where the temps are read from. On my MB it is on the upper front of the MB as it sits in my case.

what I found from the DFI street forum, is that the chip is in the worst possible place, and that it does not read the case temp accurately, and that my problem of the case temp reading higher than cpu, is very very common. Thanks for the input all
