I just got a new case to replace my old 250w case. The new one has a 300w psu. The conversion went well and I had a chance to lap the water block and
reseat it. The results were a 4 deg C drop on the CPU, BUT....there always seems to be a but, the northbridge is running about 5-6 Deg C hotter. It was running at +/- 29 deg c with the 250w, now it runs somewhere around 34 deg c with the new setup. I was able to drop my I/O voltage to default 3.4 from 3.5 i had been running to stabilize the system with the 250w psu.
The KT7A-R has a fan over the N/Bridge, and my Amb. Temp is 22 deg c. The new case has vent holes in the sides and I am running 2 80mm fans in.
What I am wondering is is this an acceptable temp for the chip set. I just don't like the 5-6 deg jump. Anyone out there with the same M/B...I would like to know your N/Bridge temps and any suggestions on how to bring the temp down.
