Is the system overclocked, If so what is your FSB x multiplier settings ?
What are your tempratures ?

fsb is 2 x 133
cpu temp is running between 30 and 50c
the clock multiplier is set to default on the board

Are these tempratures taken at idle or on load ?
Did you have the system freeze problem before you flashed the bios ?

tempretures are from standard windows use the 50c was when left running over night during which time it froze.
i had the problem prior to the bios flash which is why i did it

i have also ran a reg update from amd.com to clear up a conflict with geforce 2 and win 2k combined with an amd chip

Try taking out 1 stick of RAM. Sometimes, the RAMs do not match, or one is flakier than the other, which could cause lock-ups.

i tried this today and it ran for 6 hours then froze

Next step i would try is another video card, or at least another driver.

pqt (Jun 11, 2001 12:58 p.m.):
That happened with either stick of RAM?
no only tried taking out the new stick i bought when ipgraded the board , chip and graphics card . The other has been running A ok in another machine running a K6 500 amd. So i assumed it would be ok?

Cool i have tried the latest driver and ive updated the reg patch off amd site but havent tried a different card, i try taking out the other mem stick and then swap the cards . Thanks for the help and ill let you know the outcome .

just to let you know i tried all the solutions all with the same results the big freeze!!
so just out of interest i clocked it back on the jumper settings to 1 ghz and low and behold it is as stable as a rock!!! the trouble is i still dont know why it wont work at 1.333ghz. tech support at AMD and ELITE are shite.
so any more advice would be welcome

Yeah re-installed everything, flashed the disk and put it all back on with the latest drivers , i even tried a re-install with a different hard disk and had the same result froze at 1.333 but ran without a hitch at 1 ghz. Bought a new heat sink as i found the old on wasnt rated for 1.333 even though it was keeping the temp well inside the required level. Now got a OcUK super thermalright sk6 but no difference only the noise level has gone through the roof (looks nice though). Im thinking its the board but elite wont reply to mail?

Thought id let you know following over 2 weeks of argueing and returning indivdual components to the retailer, i today eventually got both sticks of 256 memory replaced as they say this the problem, after testing everything else. Ive run it for 8hrs and its ok , all i would say is thankyou for your help and dont let the retailer mess you around the way mine has for best of 1 month i got no joy until i threatened them with trading standards aurthority in the uk.
