This week will be hit and miss. We’re dealing with a new table language which I am far from mastering so I’m not sure how much endurance I will have for it. Second, due to low staffing in our helpdesk, I’ve been pulled away to work on projects that I have very little knowledge on. This takes me out into the field for longer than normal, which may force me to publish whatever I have done. Should this update look incomplete, that’s what happened.

Further, Michigan and other States are ramping up and those of us who work on the front line of IT/IS, we have a lot of physical moving to do. That’s actually good news even though I’d rather just sit on my butt than move machines but… oh well. They pay so I work.

Team Conquest/Threat List
PCMR 2.2 monthsup from 2.1 months.
CERN & LHC Computing 6.0 monthsup 5.9 months.
NVIDIA Corp 6.4 monthsup from 4.6 months.
PC Games Hardware 10.2 monthsup from 8.9 months.
VMware 1.0 yearsdown 1.2 years.

WOOT! Wait… why “WOOT!”? Because most of the teams chasing us down are showing signs of struggling. Except for VMware, the time to overtake us has risen. Looking at our end of the equation, we have spiked up sharply this week which means that we can take pride in our efforts as opposed to our friends slowing down. That gets a “WOOT!”.

Like last week, looking at NVIDIA’s team, we see two individual users who are earning between 300 – 400 million ppd. Look at it as good, bad or indifferent but those numbers are awesome. I’m starting to look into that level of production myself. I’m selling off things I don’t need like my house, car, tools, computers…. wait I need those. OK, I have a lot of details to figure out yet so let’s not hold our collective breath.

We’re still losing active folders but our average has gone up a smudge. Maybe a smidge. A skooch?

Top 30 again. WOOT! I saw yesterday that we had the top 31 but we weren’t able to hold that spot for today. We’ll just keep going at it.

Individual Milestones:
(Note: The word “earned” acknowledges the hard work done to earn these points at all levels of production.)

Nope. Until I get a better understanding of how to setup tables with this new system, it ain’t gonna happen. I suck too much at it and it takes too much time. The crux is that I don’t know how to enter the data in a timely manner. The old system made sense to me but the new system if currently beyond me. Note: I’m placing the blame on my ability to understand the new system and not the new system. Until I get over that hump, I can’t do the milestones.

Moving up in these ranks is difficult. Great job guys.

Thanks for continuing to put this info together!

Haven't folded in years, but things happened earlier this year, and now this virus...this is why I started folding in the first place.

Slowdown from me imminent. Moving tomorrow so the rack needs to go offline in a few minutes so that the compute can come out to be safely transported. Can't say when I'll be back to full capacity but hopefully with the long weekend ahead I can have partial service restored before Tuesday.

Fold on everyone.

Started folding again for the first time in a long time, resurrecting my old username :)

Just an old-ish A8-7600 for now, but hoping to get some office machines online in the next week or so. On top of that, I have a couple of dual Xeon linux machines that are used for other computational work so I've got FaH running at low priority there to fill the gaps when there aren't active jobs.

We'll see how much PPD I can get out of these ... :>

Are you using CPU folding? Try to get ether the latest high end GPU (AMD or Nvidia) to put in your home systems, get better points.
Anyway Welcome back good to see you :salute: :borg: those office PC's :)

Whats the best bang for the buck these days for GPUs?

Whats the best bang for the buck these days for GPUs?

RTX 2080 series is high points producer but they go for about $700 and up, you can look for some GTX 1080 series for cheap.
Oh and GTX 1660 as well.
I'm using 9 EVGA GTX 1080 SC cards and 2 RTX 2080 Super Black cards.

Ok, will see what I can get my hands on (or afford!) next payday ... I don't see anywhere in the UK selling the 1080s for some reason, but I've seen the 1660s and 2060s.

NewEgg has some good prices on anything they sell and ship, 3rd party vendors will charge an arm and a leg :) There are GTX 1080's on NewEgg but through 3rd party vendors.

The new RTX cards seem to do really well with folding from what I've seen. Currently debating between a 2070 Super for around $500US (if you can even find one UGH), or a 2080 Super for ~$720US. Again, shortages have been pretty bad lately due to both a cut in production, and insane demand from folks building systems to work from home/cure boredom.

What I've seen so far is that the 2070 Super will net ~1.2M PPD, whereas the 2080 Super should be pushing closer to maybe even low 2M PPD. The 2080Ti will grab to mid-high 2M PPD from what folks said on the Stanford forums. Not too sure what a 2060 would net you, but probly in the realm of 800k-1M at full?

I'm currently running a 980Ti (8-900k PPD) on my main PC, 1080 on our VR HTPC (850-950k PPD), and a 1070 8-900k PPD) I slapped in a test bench while I go through a bunch of loose parts from the closet to net me a boost in production for a bit :p. FAHControl puts these all at around 2.5M PPD at full steam, which seems a bit low to me but luck of the draw I guess when it comes to which WU's you end up getting.

My PPD numbers are all after switching over to using a "passkey", which gains you bonus points the faster you can get the work done. Doing this however will create a new user name/account, and you will be starting over from scratch. Found this out the hard way but I passed my 10 or 12 year score in 1 day! Both sad and happy I guess hahaha.

Here's the link to the Stanford site about and how to obtain a passkey.

My linux 2070 super are about 1.8-2.0 million ppd on core_22 projects. Current beta project p16600 is 2.3 million ppd. HFM benchmark data available for all the gpu currently folding in my sig. Just let me know what project(s).

Ok, keeping an eye out for a good price on a second hand 980Ti for now. We're planning to move house this summer (once the legal restrictions on movement/etc. are lifted here) and we're saving for a wedding next spring, but I hope to have enough cash to build a Ryzen 4000 with a decent GPU this autumn. Playing it safe until we know how much the move will actually cost us ...

Wow, don't know if what I found was just old or wrong info, different projects or there's really that much of a difference in Linux v. Windows. I mean I know there's a difference, I remember running the Linux SMP clients and how much a difference that made but it was never that huge of a gap. Your numbers certainly don't lie though hehe.

You don't need to start over just to add a passkey, you could have just put in a passkey and keep your user name.

Why oh why won't you let me pass your old name?:cry::rofl:

Yea see that’s what i thought would happen too, i just added the passkey to my already configured clients and poof now theres two of my name folding for team 32.

This [EsMd]Slayer_ALL_1L5pcBFhgZokzrodw1DqXTxyoFq2ZBEwYb is not your passkey. This is why you now have 2 user names.

I know the passkey is different than that, that's not what I entered for the passkey. :p I've pasted below what they sent me via email when I applied for said passkey.

Slayer. It's all good. These weekly updates are a gathering point for the team to talk about whatever. As the OP, I could care less what you guys decide is of interest. Have fun and discuss away.

Ahh now I see the whole piture, you applied for the passkey through F@H, you don't have to do that, I just made up a key for me way back in 12/2010 and it does not change the user name.
Also, that user name you have now looks like a Folding Coin user name.
