Taking Geforce2 Pro DDR 32mg Back!!

Well I have tested the Geforce2 Pro DDR 32mg for a couple of weeks now. I have to admit that I have been very dissappointed with this card. Compared to my Voodoo5 agp 64mg I get quicker performance than I do with Geforce2. Had all latest bios and drivers installed. I will be exchanging the card to a 64mg version and give it a try. I even overclocked that card to 220/430 and it ran stable. But the performance was slower. I am sure it might just be me, but hope I won't be dissappointed with the 64mg version.

Only because I love my V5 and think it blows the GF2 away

You said "Compared to my Voodoo5 agp 64mg I get quicker performance than I do with Geforce2. " I don't know what you mean... in the 3D game? in the 3D benchmark?.. or... what API? (D3D/OGL for what game were u running?)

emm.. i think such problems like this people are having is usually caused by the "user", not the hardware's fault.

Is this your first time upgrading your Video card from Voodoo5 to a GF2 Pro 32mb?? There's difference between ugrading from a Voodoo card to another voodoo and upgrading a Voodoo to a Nvidia card.

If your GF2 Pro 32mb is performing poorly in your setup, then the 64mb will perform the same or even slower so you will not gain anything or actually get worse. So please check your Operating system. It can possibly be your vid driver, directX, conflict with your old vid driver that doesn't show on the Device Manager property which is hiding in the registry, etc..

Azzkicker gave a good recommendation to someone in this forum on backing up Everything on a CD burner and then format HD/ install WIndows. it's up to you.

I'm with ƒ~ƒ‹ƒN•² on this one. I'm getting weary of all the GeForce bashing going on lately. Hey, it's your money and you can buy anything you want and have a right to your opinion, but the Voodoos are DEAD! No more driver support and no more company. How come most hardware reviews and comparisons show the GF being the top dog now. Ok, maybe they are all liars or something, ya think?

I hope this is not a misunderstanding. I am not bashing the Geforce in any way. I appreciate everyones input and yes maybe its my setup. But it seems that VD5 runs smoother on games. I mean liquid smooth. Even on the net I can see a difference. The geforce gave me a pause maybe a tenth of a second every now and then when running games,demos, benchmarks. Some one suggeted turning my vsync off in the geforce setup which I did but made no difference. Also someone suggested in a previous post that because I run a 19in monitor at 1024x768 true 32 that the 64mg version may give me what I'm looking for. Yes the VD5 is dead, but I will keep performing CPR on this card.

I just bought the pny geforce 2 gts pro 64ddr for 250 at best buy"what a rippoff" Anyway im trying it out and it seem to be alot better than my voodoo 4 . I will be bringing it back in 15 days and by then the ultra should be around 220. The geforce 3 is the biggest rippoff ! There isnt any games out there to take full advantage for one. also Why get a geforce 3 when a gts pro or ultra will suit you just fine for the next 6 months and by then the geforce 3 gts pro or ultra will be comeing along with 128 megs of ddr for 345
