Okay, short story...

A few nights ago, I put together a water cooling system that had failed me a few weeks back due to a contact issue between the waterblock and my cpu (actually two of them). They both got fried.

So, I ordered a Maze2 waterblock and had a shroud built for my heater core.

I put the system together, had a CPU temp of 44C. When I closed up my case, I had a CPU temp of 33C. I was thrilled. Then one of my two hard drives failed in my RAID 0 array (oh well).

So, in putting my system back together with the one godo 40GB drive, closing up the case, I'm now getting temps of 40-44C. Same setup... I don't get it.

Background:
Abit KG7-RAID
Athlon 1.4C
Crucial 256MB Dimm
RUNNING STOCK (10.5x133)

Question: How could my temperatures be that different on a clean install. I have the heater core, shroud, and fan in the same spot, and I have my case exhaust fan in the same spot.

The only thing different from when I was at 33C is that I'm not using the RAID controller anymore, and I'm using the primary IDE controller.

HOW CAN THE TEMPS BE THAT MUCH DIFFERENT NOW?

I don't see anything in your post that would do that, What are you using to get the temps with? If it's the motherboard sensor, I'd say it's got issues. Are these temps all taken in one program?
Bios and MBM5 (and others like it) don't always give the same readings as each other.

Hope this helps.......

Open it back up and while watching the core temperature press down lightly on each of the four sides of the Maze2. It seems like the weight or stiffness of the hoses can make it shift a little. That may not be your problem, but I had it when I was using the Maze2.

Yea I agree, sounds like your insocket diode is defective or something... You might wanna run to radioshack and pick up a cheap LCD Thermal Probe, give you exact measurement of the temps..

I'm using the same thing, MBM5, using the internal DIODE... nothing changed in my temperature reading standards, so I figured it was all relative to the same program and diode.

I'll give it a shot, to press down on the Maze2. I've got it on there pretty snug, though. I've gotta get in that machine anyway... I need to put a spare hard drive in there, to see if I can't salvage some of the data I lost yesterday. I had made some backups a few months back, and I hope some are on this spare hd of mine.

Finally up and running...

With the help of a program called Vcool, like WPCREDIT changes, at 1.4GHz (stock), I am at 28C CPU temp (measured with internal diode).

Thanks!

Yeah, it's starting to come together, however, I'm having a hard time with the speeds I'm able to get... but I just realized, I am using a different CPU than the one I had before, same kind, 1.4 AYHJA, but maybe that's it. :(

I was able to do 10x165 before, stable, with one Crucial DIMM. Now, I'm only at 10x155. Not the end of the world... but it sucks when you were once at a much better speed. :(
