Because of this site, i was able to make a decision on what LCD screen to purchase.

I've been using CRT since the beginning and some of you were probably still in diapers at that time.. ;)

Part of me could not make the switch, until today.

I went "all out" and got the Gateway 2485W @ bestbuy.

For those who were thinking of getting this beast and want to save $30 bucks, JR.com has it for $649.99, and bestbuy will match the price!!

Not too bad for a walk-in, walk-out senerio...

In NY, out the door, $706.05!

I have to say, It is massive!!

The features are just plain awesome for this size screen.

* .27mm dot pitch
* 24" Widescreen Monitor
* 6ms response time
* 1000:1 contrast ratio
* 450 nits/s
* 1920 x 1200 native resolution. But looks good in all widescreen formats and * even looks good @ 10x7, 1280 x 1024!
* 1:1 Pixel mapping, which I leave off or set to "Wide".
* 1080p
* two component inputs
* 1 DVI-D w/ HDCP
* 1 VGA
* 1 S-video
* 1 Composite
* Powered 4 port USB 2.0 hub.
* Auto rotation
* Eztouch menu controls
* Finger print-less screen

I really can't believe it took me this long to switch and I quote from "mista ting". "Once you go wide, you'll never go back."

He may be right!

Thanks again!

I'm sure we weren't all in diapers, I remember playing CGA games on my sweet yellow monochrome 14" monitor...ick

I hope that you enjoy this display. I'm very pleased with mine.

I just cranked the brightness on my down a bit - 100% was a bit overkill, I think.

Yea had mine for 2 days and took it back due to buzzing. but now that i think of it i think that might have been due to the speakers i had sitting right next to it. Just for tips if you end up having to take it back to bestbuy before 14 days are up make sure you tell them you didnt know about the restocking fee. Those guys tryed charging me almost $100 just to return the thing. I just laughed and asked for the manager. Enjoy the sweet new monitor

Not sure if you guys know this, but each input has its own separate settings. Meaning DVI, can have brightness @ 30 and contrast @ 50, while VGA can be 45 brightness and 30 contrast and so-on with all the other inputs.

Plus the PIP function is nice too.

Let me explain why.

I have two systems on a KVM. One is my gaming system the other is my Video surveillance system , but since I have this new screen I cant use my DVI with my analog KVM switch.

So one system is using the VGA input and the other is using the DVI input.

I can simply go into the monitors menu system and just select the source.

With the 2485W you can choose which input to be used on the PIP option. (SWEET!) I chose VGA. But remember my KVM is still hooked up, I'm just not using the Video in-Video out option.

So I turn on my PIP, and up pops the other system.

(this is the coolest part).
If I switch to the other PC via the KVM, I can use the other computer using the PIP window. Its about equivilant to a 6.5" Screen, but I can use it.

Then, if I need too, I can hit PIP swap, and it will swap the PIP window with my main screen.

Wow man.... congrats... that thing is definately a beast... from what I've googled, you sir, are now the proud father of a beautiful LCD :) I'm gonna have to make a jump like that one of these days.. I just bought a cheap Compaq P920 19" CRT Flatscreen to replace my dying 17" Sharp LCD from 2004 lol...

I should figure out a use for the PIP on my screen. It must be good for something.:)

SuperDave I'm guessing your currently serving. Thank you for your service to our country.
