One thing we should remember is that X is cool. Therefore, if you add X to your product name, your product is ten times cooler. It's like adding stickers to your car to increase the horsepower.

Ditto :cool:

Some of you may be too yound to remember when all the X's started appearing in product names, but it really is nothing more than to help the product appeal to a wider demographic. We gen x'ers were the first to experience the joys of this marketing tactic.

MX

Logitech = Mousing eXtreme
nVidia = Mostly uneXciting

FX

nVidia = Fairly uneXciting

PRO

ATi = Pricey Raedon Object
Microsoft = Pricey Redundant Offering

XP

AMD = eXtreme Performance (this is the only real deal actual right answer in the list...LOL)
Microsoft = eXtremely Pricey

:D

in Win XP the XP is for eXPerience
the Athlon's XP means eXtra Performance but you can bet they did it to associate themselves (to computer illiterate geezers) with Windows XP
