I'm so sick of the this system is better than than that system. I like going to the gamefaqs forums and almost everyone there is a freaking troll and most act like 8 year olds that can't afford to have all the systems so the just bash the systems they dont have for stupid reasons like "gamecube is all kiddy and sux" "m$ sux" . They all have strengths and they all have their weekness. I own a dreamcast, ps2, and xbox and have played a few gamecube games and I really can't come up with a clear cut winner so...
[ps2] - People always say it has such a great list of games but once you sort through the list of "on ps2 only" games you only come up with a few must haves and mostly mediocre rental games. I just fail to see all these so called great games the system has. With games that are on both the xbox and the ps2 I'll will most likely always go for the xbox version (exept for need for speed just because they messed up the xbox one bad) There are a few stand out games that make the ps2 look really good but for the most part the textures are laughable. Playing the gamecbe and xbox or pc for a week straight really hammers this opinion in. AND GOD DO I HATE MEMORY CARDS SO STUPID !!! WAY TO EXPENSIVE AND WAY TO SMALL!!! and you have to buy a 30 dollar adapter to play with more than 2 people. With all the downs it still has some great games that are on my top 25 of the last 5 years. The main selling point of the ps2 is squaresoft. I know so many people that bought the ps1 just to play FF7. Than after such hits as FFtactics , Xenogears, Vagrant Story FF8 and 9, and chrono cross these same people I know are now diehard squaresoft fans so they naturally bought the ps2 hoping for the same thing. Ack and how could I forget about grand theft auto if microsoft would of nabbed this title as xbox only this could of resulted in a million xbox unit sales. Just last week 2 of my friends bought a ps2 and vice city! Word of mouth goes a long way and sony knows this and they use it to their advantage but still the ps2 is really a hype machine because if anyone remembers how bad they were hyping the so called "emotion engine" and making it sound like the end all greatest thing it the world they were just a "tad" off.
[dreamcast] - to bad this thing didn't get support from a big rpg company or a sports company like ea because this sucker had some of the most enjoyable games I have played in the last 5 years. The jump from playstation1 to this beast was huge its just to bad sega had the worst commericals for it and medicore 3rd party development. Playing online right out of the box was a huge plus. The memory cards did seem really really small though since you could fill a whole one up with just one sports game save
[gamecube] - The nintendo first party games I have played are really quite fun all nintendo really need to do is grab a few more good exclusive 3rd party games and they could pull ahead a bit but I really really hate that controller. For fighting games and action/sports games it becomes a "stupid pad" it just isn't right at all. If you were going against an equal apponent in capcom vs snk2 and the opponent had a ps2 pad you would be screwed.
[xbox] - Yes the graphics are nice, yes it has a harddrive for easy saves, yes the regular controller is a tank and designed by huge ogre hand dullards, yes its never going to sell well in japan unless microsoft buys enix or square. What I don't get is people bashing this system because it doesn't have as many stand out games as the ps2,,,,,,, well no s@#t its only been out for a year and the ps2 has been out for a couple of years!! I mean do these people remember the first year of the ps2???? Well I do and it sucked so bad I was going to sell mine because all I did was play dreamcast all the time. The ratio of good games to medicore games is about the same on all the systems. The same people that say the ps2 has so many good games easily forget the countless crap games I have rented and hated. If graphics alone would king a system than this system would be wearing the crown but they don't to most people. As with gamecube the system is one freeking year old so the number of good games isn't going to be mind blowing but both still have better games than the ps2 did its first year. The thing I'm most worried about with this system is the lack of sales in Japan. It scary to think that the dreamcast could out sell the xbox even though its a dead system but because of a total lack of games that interest the Japanese culture in the first year i can see why it sold so bad.
