It has some kind of equation created by a Math genius to account for the full moon and offsetting gravitational pull;) j/k. I saw the equation he came up with and I was lost so I'll just trust in Rob.:)

Maybe I should have made that more clear am sure I will do a edit as questions are rasied.

Anyone thats a member of the O/C Forums as of today is alowed to join you just have to have some rank showing at stanford before the contest beings.

We are counting the slot the standing in the team ranking. But on a scale to account for the fact that once you are in to the higher ranks it takes longer to overtake someone.

If you rank 100th and end up at 80th place in two weeks you have 160 points.

Now if I was alowed to play :( And if was to pass Ferris in the contest I would have 250 points for overtaking 3rd place.

I using this scale there is someone that has the chance to make around 380 points.

I had to play with the eqation a bit and with some numbers to get an idea what would work.

Good luck everyone.

Contest two will be a member ship drive for [email protected] we will see how this contest goes

Yes and No you realy need to do the math to see how the nubers work out.

ok for myself

As of now am ranked 4th so if I was to over take 3rd
1000-4=996/4=249 ( 4 is my old rank)
1000-3=997/3=332.333 ( 3 is my new rank)
332.333-249=83.333*3=250
250-1.5.=248.5 is my score

Now for someone starting at rank 500 and ending at 200
1000-500=500/500=1
1000-200=800/200=4
4-1=3*200=600
600-100=500

Now lets look at 20 moving to 10
1000-20=980/20=49
1000-10=990/10=99
99-49=50*10=500
500-5=495

So yes it could be easy for someone to step in and jump from 600th to 200th and win. But if you look close you cant even get a positive score until you reach 500th place.

If you started at 1000th place and moved to 500th you would only get a score of 250

So in some ways its still not very far to poeple high in the rankings but am running this to help get more poeple folding and or to get poeple that are folding to recuit systems. So if you higher in the ranks best recuite more systems ;)

This contest idea is fantastic. I'm still blown away. :)
The way you have it set up looks to be pretty fair. Where on earth did you get that equation?

Now if only I had 5 or 6 more XP's at my disposal. LOL.

Ok yea realy need to have a tie break. Sense its my idea that its harder as move up as you get up in rank the person with the highest rank wins. I need to do an edit tonight on the rules I think.

Thanks for the help I would have had a problem if there was a tie lol :)

Hmm, I think the contest is for 2 weeks. 10Ghz is a nice chunk though, Intel or AMD?

Soren thats great to get some help but the point it to get help for the long term also. So try and talk them into keeping it on there systems even after the contest. My point was to help the team long term not just for 2 weeks or even 2 days lol.

So please when recuiting any help try and get them to commit long term. Thanks much

regarding keeping them long-term.

I've actually convinced them to stay. If I make a dedicated server to UT I can steal all of their extra CPU cycles. Gotta love democracy.

all of the Ghz are AMD.
