1. Help with setting up a used powerconnect 3024 managed switch.

2. Someone to kick me in the head to jog my memory on how to install xubuntu desktop on a new server install. Think I'm missing a depository, tried apt-get install xubuntu-desktop and no joy.

3. Help in setting resolution via command line in gnome. Think I can handle this one but haven't had a chance to try it yet. Should be editing /etc/x11/xorg.conf IIRC....

I can probally find the answers to 2&3 through google, but I haven't had any success with 1 yet.

I've got the cat5 run to the basement and the first machine set up down there. Changed monitors and its late which caused prob 2. Anticipating problem 3 tomorrow night.

Its late and I'm tired so I might be more sucessful tomorrow night so wish me luck.lol

Lol I just reread the first post... I'm not sure even the best of you could help my mental capacity. You can strike that stuff off now. I've got three rigs up and running again in the new puter room now. I'll have to post some pics tomorrow. I could use a psu and a good HSF for socket 775 if someone local want to sell. If not its off to the local microcenter this weekend and the fourth (e6600) will be up and folding. Should be a nice ppd once its all said and done.

PATA ok? I probably have one here that I can have to you Monday.

Thanks but I think what i'm going to do is take one of the 250GB drives out of my main rig and setup the other machine as a headless file server and firewall. Now I just need to dig through the storage and find a PSU, already have everything else. If all else fails i'll have to buy one when I get the money together for the new vid card I have to buy for my main rig, hopefully in a couple of weeks :bang head:bang head damn X1900XT :bang head:bang head

Doesn't (PC100/133?) has two alignment notches , so DDR won't fit no matter how hard you push.

:p

Sure, just pm me.

Also, guys, I need a better cooler for my p35 rig. Stock just doesnt cut it when trying to overclock...

I am now accepting any socket 775 air or water cooler (however I highly doubt someone will give me a water cooler lol).

I need a modified power supply.
The power connector to the line in has tho be on the same side as the power to the mobo etc. The intake has to be 120mm fan on the bottom and the exhaust has to be on the side opposite the power connectors. This supply is for an ANTEC OVERTURE II case.

P35-DS3R, Q6600, Mediacenter

I purchased a Tt Toughpower 700W for it - 2 problems
1. it is too large to fit
2. Its beyond my ability to mod it
3. warranty is now VOID

Doesn't Antec have a list of PSU's that work in their Overture cases?

Modding a PSU is just something that should be avoided, imo.

Please, be realistic. Don't just post "I need a new rig, mine is old".
You'll get laughed at. I'll laugh at you. :p

I need a new rig, mine is old. Sorry WII I had to. Now if only my Q6600 and IP35P would get here. These Dominators look real nice sitting on my desk, but they would look even better if they were in a good board.

Edit: If you are going to laugh at me, make sure to do it in public. I want to see how long it takes this P4 to process it.

Im in dire need of a s939 mobo. I do have a pci-e GeForce 7200le vid card someone could have also.
I also got a s939 3400+ and 3.0 or 3.2 (it's early, can't remember off the top of my head) s478 chips.

I need a Q6600 or better for my main Asus Commando rig as I already have all the parts for another LG775 folding rig to move my current E6600 over to.

However, more realistically, all I really need for that 3rd SMP_FAH capable system is any C2D chip with Vituralization technology so I can run 64bit Linux in a VM.
