Anyone ever hear of a Copper Gasket fluid material. Its used for fixing Head Gaskets on vehicles I believe. We have some in our garage, I can't open the can.

EDIT: Copper Coat Gasket Compound

Looks like some testing is in order

Are circuit sealers good for filling in the pits in between the bridges. I assume their non-conductive. Also I didnt have the time to search the whole post, but did anyone mention anything about just closing the 5th L3 bridge rather then all the L1's. I would think it would be so much easier.

I am soo happy because I just unlocked my XP2000+ and clocked it fromm 1670 to 1695. Not that big of a jump but I dont want to go any higher with my current cooling situation.

I just used some old metalic silver Testors paint and a needle to unlock my chip. It worked great after the second try.

Is there anything weird about my multipliers? I get all the multipliers up to 12 1/2 (wich is where it is now) and I only get 13 or more as my next multiplier. Is this right?

Also I have an Abit KR7A-R and none of my temp. probes work. This is really annoying given that i'm trying to overclock my computer but I don't know how hot my CPU is getting. I have checked the ABit FAQ's and all but I have not been able to find any info on temp probes that are not working. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Scud

I don't think your motherboard cmos gives you any
higher than 13x. You can try 136 fsb.

Method: Crayon to fill the L1 laser pits and the surrounding ones too, to be safe. Auto window defogger paint to connect the dots. Used a safety pin to apply and acetone with Q-tips to clean mistakes. Scotch tape to mask. I also used grounding heel straps and a wrist strap, a 5x magnifying glass, and a mag-lite flashlight.

Pitfalls: Must clear crayon wax from the L1 contacts with pin or exacto. It helps to use several thin layers of defogger paint, and press it flat. The paint seemed to lift up when I was trimming its edges sometimes. Take your time. I did this twice and spent at least half an hour each time.

I did this yesterday, so I can't vouch for the longevity or safety of the crayon method. Some people seem to think the crayon wax will melt. At 105 F on the core (probably cooler on the L1 area), I doubt it.

Edit: Finished tweaking my new cooling gear set up and now the cpu idles at 31 C or 87 F. Let's see that crayon melt now! Load temps to come once I get windows working again.

another alternative would be to use clear silcone caulking but don't use the colored stuff it might conduct.

Well about 2 week's ago I decided to try different multipliers just to see if anything changed. And it did. I'm able to use every multiplier now.

I followed your posts on this thread and seen that you were experiencing the same problem as i currently am. After messing up my first attempt to unlock the multiplyer and scrapped the "green stuff" right off of the cpu where the L1's are I had to make some modifications to the surface by putting a layer of crazy glue over the L1 dots and pits. I used an exacto knife tip to somewhat drill through the crazy glue untill the dots were not covered. This was a very time consuming effort but I was able to make proper connection to the two dots using defogger repair kit. I set the fsb to 100 mhz to test to see if my method would work and defaulted to 1100 mhz 11 x multiplyer, pleasently suprised I bumper it to 12 x and it registered at 1200 mhz. If I push it to 13 multiplyer or greater it will not turn on, restarts to a black screen. Basically what I am asking is with a bit of time your other settings became usable withought redoing the L1's?

I filled the laser pits with superglue the first time,
and last week for my second cpu I used a crayon.
It was bright green. With crayon I didn't have to
wait for the superglue gel to dry before slicing off
the excess with a safety razor blade.

Then masked a rectangle around L1 with scotch
tape, masked each successive pair of dots and
mooshed the relatively thick pasty silver circuit
pen output around to cover each pair. It's not
like it just flows but it's workable.

I forgot to mention that I masked the laser pit row with
tape before filling it with crayon. That way I didn't get
waxy crayon anywhere but the pits.

Hi , I just unlock Two new XP's last night.

Used quick drying glue to fill the pits and read windows defogger repairkit to connect the dot's

my XP 1800+ is doing XP2000+ now @ 1.81V and 42°C
my XP 1600+ is doing XP 1800+ new @ 1.75V and 42°C

Now I've succesfully unlocked 3 CPU's. the last 2 I did within 1 our for the both of them.

you just need a steady hand

GreetZ Neo

i did it with exacly the same components on my xp2000+, ran stable for a while @ 10x172 for 3 weeks but i started getting hard crashes (sreen froze completely) and got some beeps... after that i couldn't boot so i removed the defroger, ran it, but i get errors now, and crashes :'(

XP2100+

i have been trying to find a guide with pictures for unlocking a XP 2100+ ....BUT..... not the method where you have to cut stuff, i would rather do the removable method that i found listed in this forum (but it had broken links in it so pic's didnt work)

any chance of getting linked to pic's explaining this process.
i have watercooling just waiting for me to unlock this thing

if i did it with the pencil trick and can only go down in luti to like 7 from 8, did it work or is it not finished?

CPU's which one ?

hi,
im gonna upgrade my system. i have about £600 ($880) for CPU, Mboard, Gcard, Memory and Hdrive. i.e around £250 ($370) for a CPU and Mboard.

as i know very little and this is a first time thing, could you offer some advice comparing Pentuim and AMD CPU's i want to overclock, but i must say i'm a little worried at the thought of PHYSICALLY altering my CPU and possibly screwing it up - is this completely necassary?

thanks
alex

ive been looking around and the closest thing i can find that is at a local retailer is this http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productVi...d2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=
does anyone know if this would be satisfactory? is it the right sort of stuff or should i keep looking for somthing else
*edit* sorry about digging up such an old thread, i didnt realise until after i posted that it was so old, but it seemed the best place for my question *edit*

what CPU do you have? if its a tbred or barton, when did u buy it? If it was before october last year you got an unlocked chip, if it was later you'll have to check if its unlocked or not, if its not (and as I said its a Tbred or Barton), then you won't be able to unlock it, as the above mentioned technique doesn't work anymore, the new chips are super-locked.

its a athlon xp 1500+ palomino core and im pretty sure i had it since before october lsat year

Yea palominos are locked the old way (cut L1 bridges, so you can unlock it w/o worrying).
Any conductive paste/paint/substance that dries will work, i personally use conductive silver paint.
