the drop leveled out to 13c temp drop on those nodes (2&3) after waiting a little longer... Now sitting at temps accross all nodes:
N0/1: 36C, N2/3: 44C, N4/5: 34C, and N6/7: 42C

Lemme bust the cam out... I'll post it to the 1st post in a few...

Basically, I took the 2 left over fans I couldnt mount due to spacing, and took the wire clips that came with them and "hung" them off the top right CPU fan... doing a sideways push/pull off the #2 heat sink.

I'll be honest I haven't read the whole thread... but, I can't tell from the pics if you found a method of securing the top of the board to the case. Curious I am.

I used the original stand offs in reverse and bolted the middle top row modified,... And 6 on the bottom middle, and bottom row in the stock premade holes... for 9 total... Then I used one extra stand off on the top center hole... But it was tricky, as the case has a weird perforated lip near the top... But that one actually screwed in. I could do more out of paranoia, but the board is pretty stable.

Btw... What temp monitoring do you guys use and how/what commands are used to open it?
There is some stuff on the SM CD to check out, including Temp monitoring, probably the same as what you are using in Turian, but I am going to try it and maybe the Gpu Drivers, and the sound drivers as well.

Ah, ok... I had seen your reverse standoff method. Just curious if you got the very top secured. With that heatsink that high on the board I was concerned about the board flex over time. Call me paranoid but I wanted mine secure at the top. :)

You opened the CD? :D No really... let us know what you find there.

CD? lol, yeah, I actually wanted to ask you guys about that... I seen that everything was working fine, so I didnt bother with the CD. What is this "sound" that you speak of? Actually, I dont have a spot on the board that my front pannel audio can hook into, and I dont see anything on the back. Not that I need the sound, but in the future, If I wanted to test that "dual" mode I was talking about, It would be nice to have sound for the VM Windows install.

Norcalsteve is there room to slide a 80mm fan in between the two heatsinks that almost touch? from the pics it looks like you might could fit one in there which should help temps

I will pull out the ol' measuring apparatus when I get off work tonight and see what kind of fans will fit those dimensions. I know it looks ugly now, but I am only at a 10C spread now rather a 17-20C spread!

Maybe I should just get 4 H100's or even 4 H60's!! What’s crazy is the H60's are 59.99, compared to the Noctuas I have at 75.99... but I haven’t seen the performance comparison... In the end, I should have done the cheaper Coolermaster mod with the skinnier heat sinks.

For the price of those Noctuas, you can get waterblocks from Danger Den for the G34 socket and a complete water cooling system...

Hmmmm, trying to get me to spend more money?! I'LL DO IT! DONT TEMPT ME! LOL! Yeah, W/C would totally "sexy" up my case and would remove the clutter... but if I did, I just have to get some high quality fans... These Noctuas I got are QUIET! I thought they were loud as hell, but I unplugged a 120mm Coolermaster fan that was ticking at the bottom of my case, and that fan was louder than the 6 Noctuas all running at 1800-2000 rpm!!! Now you can barely tell its running... not exactly, but it is noticeably more quite. I did have a water-cooling loop with 2 MPC220-QP's, but I sold it off since I didn’t want to deal with the maintenance and rebuilding of a split loop.

NO! /stomps foot.... If I keep tweaking and messing with stuff, I'll kill my PPD or even worse, my comp! (or bank account... But that is monopoly money, lol)

But... I am sure I will change my mind when summer starts up... But I have to also invest in a UPS (thank you kansas weather!!!) and after lookin at Tugis 4p case mod thread recently... A gold PSU. I am rocking a modular 1000w from silver stone... And silver rated I think.

Man, It is so nice to be back in the top 20... I am gunning for top 10 though... maybe Adaks spot once my 24hr average evens out :p I installed Langoust last night... That tweak makes me nervous though, It seems to "hang" when it is done writing the work unit to file (note the time stamps):

Code:

why does it take almost an hour and half to "shut down core"????!!!

Yeah, I opted for the SSD. Otherwise ext3 is the way to go.

I read it backwards... then TC mentioned that, and I looked at [H] again...

Let this be a lesson to all you up and comming 4p'ers... EXT3 will HAVE TO BE SELECTED manually when you install, mine defaulted to EXT4, and I got "next click" happy, LOL! Not to big of a loss at least, except the 350mb in updates i will have to reload. Or, could I some how get a newer 10.10 version with all the recent updates to save about an hour?
