Thermal Probe Count..

Ok so im going to go with the digital doc 5 , next question is where exactly do i place the probe for the cpu (its a p4 with a swiftech mcx478 hsf), i know you cant put it between the chip and the heatsink, so should i just put it as close to that area as possible? Anyone know of a website showing this in a picture so much easier that way to see.
