I am looking for a fan for my SLK 700 heatsink. I know I should get the SP-97, but am short on cash (again). Summer is here with a vengence! My computer temps are up 2 degrees or so, so I need cooling. Any Ideas on a big a## fan I can put on this heatsink? And noise is no issue. I would prefer a quiet fan, but I can live with a screamer for the summer.

Thanks for any and all help!

You know, for just a little more than some of those fans you could buy a slk-900a or something and get a lot better cooling than that slk-700 ( it has a C/W of .29 and the slk-900a has a .22 , which you could get even lower with good airflow and a good HSF w/ some AS5 )

Look at this link sidewinder... for 30 bucks, you could lower your temps even more! Just save your money a little longer. If you want a good fan later, the Delta HHE makes a great fan... same airflow as the 80mm Tornado only its over 10dB quieter. It's a high pressure fan, so it's very effective at cooling the Thermalright HS's. Look at my temps... with a lower power AMD, you should be able to get lower temps than that.

Anyway, good luck in your decision :)

a tornado is your best bet but are you sure noise does not matter. unless its in a basement or something the tornado will bother if not you then whoever else is living with you. most people say they can deal with a noisy fan but quickly change their minds after hearing a tornado.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the info. I may go ahead and get the SP97, or go the cheap route and just get a new fan.

Hey archilochus, my modding skills are not quite up to that beast! Always nice to start the day off laughing!
