Hi,

I just got a Thermalright core matrix 360 for my 12900k and I was wondering should I get 3 more coolers, how much difference would that make?

I have a Corsair 7000D and the case itself only came with 3 coolers 1 in the back and 2 in the front.

Without doing anything I would suppose this is what I would mount it like:

If I added 3 more coolers on top of it how would be the air flow setup? would it still be the top ones pull air inside and the bottom ones also pulling air inside?

From the pictures, it looks like your fans (coolers) up tip are blowing out/up. You can add three more if you have the clearance above the motherboard. Just make sure they're blowing up/out too. Any on the bottom I'd have as intake.

That said, I dont see the point. It won't cool too much better...

Thanks for answering.

that is not my picture its just the thermalright website, but they come mounted in that format as well.

So the said "push pull" would not benefit me much?

I don't think you'll have room if that picture is your case.

But, not too much of an improvement, no. The problem isn't so much getting the heat out of the radiator as it is getting it out of the CPU itself. You will see improvement, but not sure it's worth the cost or potential increase in noise (though you can set them slower because of the additional airflow).

I hope that makes sense.

no that pic is not my case I have a 7000D as mentioned above it can have 2x420

it seems to have twice that space there above the motherboard but I have not checked it yet still mounting everything

RightO.. I don't recognize the top of (any) case like that, lol. 2x420 isn't relevant here, it's that space above the motherboard you're checking (as you're doing).

Keep us posted... pics of your rig too! lol

That is the space left on the case im working on but its late so I wont be finishing it now, but I will post more pics when im done.

the filter at the top is removeable and there is a bit more space up as well.

Well I don't have the extra cooler to place on it right now, so I need to see which coolers I would require for the rad and for the case.

And I am also thinking since this CPU can have so many coolers how many should I place and how much better would airflow be and the temps inside.

As an example if I do 120mm coolers, the dots is how many I can have

And this one is if I do 140mm

I would appreciate some advices as I never built a tower this big.

The number of fans (coolers) depends on you. Airflow is typically front/sides = intake, top/rear = exhaust. But I would populate the front, rear, and that internal area with 120mm fans.

Thanks appreciate all the help...

I was looking at some fans but they are pretty expensive if I went to replace the front to 120mm to have the side filled that alone would be $800 which is about 150USD.

are there some less known fans that are worth using in place of the AF120 AirGuide Elite? they seem to be 400 - 1850 RPM ± 10%

Not counting the extra 3 I need for the aio which I should probably not cheap out and get the same it has if I can.

For the AIO, I'd get the same fans so they match CFM/static presure. That said, I still wouldn't add more on the AIO... the gains (especially for the cost of those fans) isn't worth it (to me). You may feel differently, of course. But that could save you some coin to maybe go matching or get something cheaper. I'll let the awesome members here suggest some lower cost, but still worthy fans. :)

That is a great rig and if you can add more I would do it.(y)

Thanks that is the plan I am rather curious how well it will cool but I will get it running first without so I can see the difference... since I still need to buy the fans.

Unsure if I will do push and pull thou.

Its a first time I get a proper case like this and the manual to remove the parts to insert even a simple PSU is massive lol so im having some fun.

It has a nice repeater on the back for extra 3 fans which is cool never seen one of those.

It sounds great show us pictures after it's done. (y)

As mentioned in another thread, if you want cheap but pretty good fans, Arctic has the P12/14 series with or without RGB. They're typically 30-50% cheaper than most competitive series and are sold in 3/5-packs. They are also good for radiators.
You can try to find Thermalright fans, which are also pretty good and cheap, but depending on your location, they can be hard to find or overpriced.

Thank you so much for posting those are indeed cheap holy, it saves me down at least $500 on my currency, and they are 200~1800 so closer to what the cosair does.

Not much of an end picture yet as I am still working on building it(yes I know slow, still waiting on the m2's so I can't really do much even if I build it right now)

So here is the spacing earth asked with the mb mounted and the aio at the top. I suppose I would be able to add the push pull fans later if I wanted to, it looks like I have enough space.

I am currently plugging all the cables sadly I will have to remove that plate there to plug the power of the mb I kind liked the plate there its a nice hiding touch, but I can't seem to flip that cable to place it as it needs to be while keeping it.

So far im enjoying the case with exception of the weight its has so mix and matching options that u can simple remove / place etc.

So I really want to keep the cover so I decided to get some cable extension, what are some good brands I can count that the cables have been properly tested etc? I need 1x24pin extension and another for the gpu
