now ive heard a lot about the golden orb and how good it is....really how good is it? is it even comparable to say an alpha pal or pep66? what are some advantages and some dissadvantages of this cooling system?

I haven't played with the super version, but I replaced 2 Intel hsf units with 2 orbs and saw no change on one, and 1 degree difference on the other. I know several others who have seen similar results. Many are not flat and need lapping badly.

As far as the Alpha and Global Win products, they're not even in the same league. I remember a review on the super recently which failed miserably at cooling a Duron or Tbird- I forget which. The gist of the review was "don't bother".

On the opening page, in the left column, there is a section on heatsink reviews that have very specific documented results on the most common heatsink/fan combinations. Probably more than you want to know!

Thanks for the kind words.

Tim
