when your in combat, it's almost always better to wound the enemy than it is to kill them. You kill em, there buddies will just get ****ed off and fight harder. You wound em, it's gonna take 1-3 men to carry them off the battlefied. A vehicle/helicopter to transport em away, an aid station to take care of them, you still have to feed them and give them water....see what I mean, your gonna want to wound thier men and make them retreat rather than wipe them all out.

This is one of the major reasons why we pulled out of Vietnam, the VC used this tactic to its utmost advantage, that's why so many of the Vietnam vets that you see have arms-legs-etc, etc... missing. Mostly from alot of the booby traps set in the jungles were not meant to kill, but to maim and injure. one example is the infamous "pungee pits" most of these pits were at a max of 1 foot deep, with sharpened bamboo rods. When an unwitting soldier would step through the leafy camo ontop of the pit, he would step down into the bamboo spikes, basicly using his own body weight to shove the bamboo spikes up through his feet, thus not mortaly wounding him, but making it impossible for him to walk anywhere, leaving it to his fellow soldiers to carry/drag him allong, slowing them down, making them less stealthy, and alot of the time causing them to have to retreat for medical care for their wounded.

this is not always true

some times it is better to kill some one in combat as aposed to wound them

the american rebels did it during the colonial wars they would target officers and throw the ranks into disorder by doing so

( like i said just some times most of the time your right it is better to wound)

they are also working on a new type of firing system where the magizines are the barrels of the gun (ill explain

basicly they have a tube with one end sealed then you pack in a charge ( like a canon) and then shove a bullet in there then you shove another charge in on top of that bullet and another bullet

the special shap of the bullets keep the exposion from the charge infront of it from setting off the charge behind it

where as the fastest firing system in the world can only put bullets with in a few metters of eachther in flight from teh end of one bullet to the "nose" of another this system can put them with in a foot of eachother

they fire it by setting of each carge in rapid sucusession its mostly intened for systems like the pahlanx system that need to throw alot of lead in a small area quickly

The United States has never signed any treaty that restricts what kind of ammunition its armed forces can uses.

I am sorry to tell you this, but that statement is not true. the united states has signed a treaty and it is called the geneva convention. But of course there is lots of information about this here;

Although not a party to this accord, as a matter of policy the United States has acknowledged and respected its applicability in conventional combat operations since its adoption more than one century ago.

Where the U.S. did sign on, however, was with the Hague Convention IV of 1907, Article 23(e) of which Annex states:

"...it is especially forbidden - To employ arms, projectiles, or material {sic} calculated to cause unnecessary suffering;"
Yeah, thats the exception, but there is an exception to that, which is they will not accknowledge that when dealing with terrorists
