and now i can install my hsf cause the little middle tab is broke and i need it to install my hsf so can one of you guys tell me how to install hsf now with tab broke?

ok this what i did i used the little peice a da stub dat was left and i accaly got hsf do hold onto it the i forced a piece a papper between clip and hsf so it cause the clip to hold onto the hsf tighter i shock it to see if it would moce watched temps for a while in bibios after i pluged it back in and im going to order a taisol hsf tomorw that dosent need the middle clip lol wish me luck

for saftey, put the comp on it's side, take the side off and watch it, and use some string (nyon thred, preferrably [fishing line]) to hold the HS/F to those little holes. get it nice and tight, and you're ready.

I keep hearing of people doing this - I've never done it myself, but it's something I'd hate to have to deal with. The next hsf/waterblock I get/make will use the mounting holes on the mobo - that seems a lot safer to me, I haven't yet heard of anyone ripping a chunk out of their mobo with the swiftech MC462. Now that would suck

taisol makes a three lug heatsink that runs about twenty dollars.

Did the same thing to my socket but on mine it didnt break just the little tab, it pulled up the whole side of the socket and messed up some of the pins. Had to get a new motherboard to fix mine. Hope yours dont require the same thing.

WTF ? Why don't these idiots make metal lugs ? I have been struggling with this kinda crap since the socket 7 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just like putting traces on the mobo right where they tell you to use a screwdriver with 100 lbs of pressure!

I feel for you I did the same thing to mine today. I took a sivver orb I had tore it apart used the hold down to modify my waterblock hold down till I can build a plate to use the holes in the m/b to mount it.
