This so called "60% HDD Performance boost" driver, is it only for Maxtors?

I think its only for maxtors. Anyway, it sounds as if you'd have to give up some system memory as well as having it only be effective when writing to your disk, not reading it.

Grrr. This version of maxboost does not support more than one processor.... and I am not turning HT off.

Maxtor bought Quantum. WD and Maxtor are two different companies.
Also, I think WD bought Conner and Micropolis back in the later-1990s. There used to be like 38783 HD manufacturers out there.
