Thoughts on BladeCenter HS23 Servers?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking into using some IBM BladeCenter HS23 servers for a small data center, mainly for virtualization tasks. They seem like a solid option with dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 CPUs and up to 512GB DDR3 RAM.

Anyone here has experience with these? How do they perform with newer virtualization tools like VMware ESXi or Proxmox? Any tips or things to watch out for?

I would avoid investing money in anything that old. These days low cost CPU's will put older CPUs like the E5-2600 to shame.

Something like : https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807089271136.html with a used 12th gen off ebay will cost similar, they are small so you can build them into tiny cases, and they will offer better performance AND performance per watt vs an older Xeon.
