does anyone here ever buy stuff from tigerdirect.com? it seems to me that they overcharge on everything, especially on shipping. at newegg.com you can get the same items for less, and with free or cheaper shipping. anyone know theyre secret for staying in business?

My dad always did for some reason, untill they screwed up bad on one order. Then I managed to talk some sense into him and he uses newegg now.

Yep, Reseller Ratings is an awesome place for this sort of stuff.
I think Tiger stays in business because of so many people who don't know what they're doing or talking about, and Tiger pitches at them.

Oh yes, in the future, this sort of thing belongs in Vendor Discussion. :)

tiger direct stinks. they sent me a dead mobo a few months back and their shipping was slow. stay away.

Well, I had a good enough experience with Tigerdirect a few months back, but as the number of bad experiences indicates, it's quite risky to purchase from them, especially if you end up requiring a RMA.
The best choice would be to buy from Newegg or buy from one of the vendors listed on the UK and US Vendor List

newegg is the cheapest in the US (as far as i know), but they only ship to the us and like pureto rico or some country like that....

1st: I preffer newegg.

That said, I have bought stuff from tigerdiredt.com. The best deal was a brand news 'Syntax' socket A MB for $10 after rebate. I use the board to fold. Just can't beat that deal even at newegg. I also purchased a modem (free after rebate) HSF and some other things. I've not had a problem with them.

In the early days, Tiger direct was the only company to provide cataloges so that people could buy parts. I can tell you that it was REALLY great in 1995. Now days, with the internet and all, Tiger became 'old school'. Before there was newegg, there was tiger.

I ordered a mobo from them once (at $5 how could I say no). Shipping wasn't that bad because they have a warehouse here in Illinois so it is 1-day shipping for the price of ground. What does suck is the rebates that they give out. I had to wait 6 months to get a rebate...and that was after several threatening email to their rebate website. It seems that they had a computer error and somehow the system thought that I submitted my rebate application twice...thus voiding my applications and making me ineligable for a check. After the emails and a 6 month wait, they put a rush on my check and I had it a week later.
