I have read, read and read, every review says that every motherboard is the greatest thing since grits (that should have told me something there, nothing beats grits with redeye gravy). Every time I make up my mind on a board you read somewhere there is a problem. I am new to this and fairly new to computers. I asked here, about a motherboard for my friends 450 Pent II, and got 4 very good and knowledgable responces, and I followed them to a T.
This is what I would like on my mother board (I would also like my cake and eat it too). Raid, DDR memory, at least 5 PCI slots, APG 2X 4X, good onboard sound would be nice, but not necessary.
Iwant everything.
I started out to get the Abit kt7a-R, then went to the Asus A7V133,, then to Epox 8kta3, then Iwill KA-266-R, so much information and so little exsperance.
My wife finially agreed to $1,500 dollars and I already have a 1.3 gig Tbird on the way (The guy said it was a Dresdon blue core chip, whatever that is), I snuck that one in, so I wont have to buy that, but you know how wives are, they can change thier minds at any time, so I must stike now---FAST.
I certainly would appreciate any help on this matter, now where is that article on lapping, I think it said staet with 500 grit using water, then get finest grit possible and use Artic Silver instead of water. hmmm. Case, graphics card, oh yes, memory.
thanks so much

I believe that the motherboard that will meet your wants is the IWill KA266-R. There are several decent cases (Addtronics, Inwin, etc). Make sure that you get one with a good power supply (preferably an Enermax or Sparkle). If you're going with DDR either Corsair or Mushkin DDR memory would work well for you. Depending on how much you want to spend on graphics, the Creative and Elsa video cards are quite nice.

I want to thank you so much for the advise and I am going to take it. I cant say how much I appreciate this help. Perhaps some day when I get enough experance, I can repay, by helping others as I have been helped.
thank you
