ok so a buddy of mine found a closet full of old compter parts he had at his parrents place for storage. and i have managed to strike a deal from with him for

1 20gb hdd
1 40gb hdd
1 radeon 7000 series
2 sticks of 512mb pc 2100 ddr
1 400w psu
a couple of 48x cd rom drives
1 misc agp video card
1 athlon xp 2100 + with volcano 7 hsf
and a few other here and theres cables ect ect

for 1 ps2 game i dont play anymore and 50 bux
he should be delivering it any day now.

combind with some parts i had sitting around this cuts my newegg shopping list quite a bit shorter. looks like ill have my HTPC and file server / network gateway up and running alot sooner than expected and an extreme savings.

Nice :)

I have some random computer stuff kicking about in the cupboard but I don't really have enough to build another rig :(

Nice score. This Thanksgiving my uncle was tossing out an Abit KV7 Socket A board. He asked if I wanted it for parts, so I said sure. He had said that previously he ran into stability issues after a chipset fan had failed. Well I got it home and booted it up with my 1700 test chip and it's been doing Prime 95 for over 24 hrs now without issue. I think it'll do just fine. Now to figure out what to do with the other machines.

I wish i could still find socket A in decent selection... I have the mobo's (w/ video), drives, and PSU's -- But processors and memory seem to be in short supply.

actualy i found some socket A chips a prety decent selection(3 or 4 diffrent models) at directron the other night. might be worth looking at.

Slather on some AS5, sprinkle in a few fans and simmer at 40C for 6 months on low WUs. ;)
"Sorry couldn't pass that up".

Nice score of what has already become "classic toys".

hehe talk about classic toys, my file server is going to be the revival of my BP6 with dual celly 500s ive had in storage for who knows how long. hehe thats classic.
