on all the XP steppings i notice they seem to be made in
1999. is that the year they are made in or am i missing
something?

if true, taht means CPUS 3 years to be released are in
production?? im probably wrong but that sounds neat.

That was the original year that the T-bird was produced. The T-bird was the first SocketA processor from AMD you know!

Funny thing was that the T-bird never launched till late 2000.

So what are the best steppings for OCing a Tbird? I am thinking that it is the AYHJA Y. Is this correct?

Anything with AYHJA in it is good (i.e. AYHJA, AYHJA-Y, AYHJA-R), and AXIA was also an awesome one. Some claim AVIAs are good, but I've yet to bear truly stellar results from mine. Not bad, but not outstanding either.

Really. Frys is really giving out some good steppings. My friend got a AYHJA and another two other friends of mine got a AGOGAs for their XPs.

The R in the stepping along with the Y means that your CPU is going to have a VERY high overclocking potential with minimal voltage.

This is the newest and last stepping for the T-bird. If your planning on getting a T-bird, go for one of these.

If your planning to go for a Palomino, get one with...

AGOIA
Y## (GREEN)

This is the best stepping and is used in the XP2100 and XP2200 Palominos. Be sure, the waffer is green because that those are the newest ones that AMD is producing.

I had an AYHJA R t-Bird 1.3 (13 X 100) and it was pretty stable at 1530. I also got the FSB up to 200 mhz with that thing on an 8KHA+
