Sometime in the last couple weeks I was googling for some issue, followed a link to Tom's Hardware forum.

Now, I occasionally get a weird pop-up in lower right screen area:

What is that all about? Some malicious script that got planted in my browser(Chrome)?

This is a Windows 7 OS.
 
It's a chrome notification. Look in settings for notifications and there should be some kinda options in there.

...called "web push notification ", never heard of such before, but I guess it operates similarly to Adobe or nVidia update notifications that appear in the lower left area, on a Windows machine.
