Can't decide:
9700 Pro slightly used -$150 on Ebay
5700 plain jane -around $120
5700 ultra $170
9600xt -$130
5900se/xt -$175

I can't decide!!!! starting to lean towards the 9700 pro, but I like the 5700 ultra, but I might as well spend another $10-$20 to get a 5900se/xt then. Not real intersted in the 9600xt; only the price was pretty good. Hate to get a plain jane card and find out for a few bucks more have alot better performance either..

9800pro is best video card for the price... it's a little over $200.

and my 9700pro beats even that.

for 150 i'd for sure get the 9700pro, OC it to somewhere around mine and enjoy.

i'd add a tad more, to 200, and get a 9800 pro. depending on the game, they could perform 4-10fps faster than the 9700pro, no more than 10, however. I wouldnt be too psyched about getting a used one either, but thats a personal opinion. i'd shell out for the 9800pro. the 5700 and 5700 ultra are terrible buys for that price. they dont perform nearly as well as the ati cards listed.

The 9600xt is faster than the 5700, and close to the 5700u. The 9700(even a np) will kill the 5900 in most apps, so you are best off with that. Check our classifieds section, usualy you can find 9700/9500's for cheap.

I'm always looking at Neweggs refurb section-but of course when they have the item you want, you don't have the money!!!I am supposed to be getting a nice 'bonus' from work and my delimma is get a good video card and a cheaper cpu now or the other way around. I'm not a heavy gamer, but would like to know that if something comes out this summer I want to get I can play it. Been looking at the 2.6 Celeron D processors for around $100(check other post for details about this proc) but what I really want is a 2.8 800fsb P4. This is the 1 I'm looking at on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5106603139&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

He has a few listed but I don't get paid till Friday but of course I'm gonna check Newegg first..

You can get a 5800NU new in box off ebay with shipping for $159. Just throwing that in for you as an option. I just bought one for a buddy for $128 shipped. Got my 9700 pro for $99. The deals are there if you have patience and look in obscure listings. Alot of people do searches on ebay and never look for the 5800, although the 9700 is more known by now its still not as sought as the 9800 or even 9600 probably.

don't know anything about the 5800--Missed out on a deal last week: guy had a few Leadtek 5900 for sale from $109 to $129. Made me sick I didn't have the $$$$$
