the really funny part is that #1 is the source of what #8 and #10 are written to get rid of.

hahaha.

Kazaa got 66% positive votes and 34% negative votes.......

I think those 34% negative ones are from Bill Gates and his evil men and their buddies :)

oh, I just downloaded and installed Ad-aware, after one scan, it shows 69 spyware detected include "save now". I thought "save now" is a part of the kazaa, right?

if you look really carefully, when you install kazaa, there is a check box to make it so it doesn't install any spyware, except for their advertising software. that is needed in order to run kazaa. it's actually not bad... that is the only spyware that come up for me.

I dont see why morpheus is up there. KaZaA owns it... Lite that is. ;)

Morpheus once was more popular than kazaa. It was 1.5 years ago before that bad update. I was using that too. Once it was down due to bad update, all the users switched to kazaa.(such as me :)

ranked by what? the number of downloads?
KaZaA Media Desktop - do not touch this, use kazaa lite
WinZip - prefer Winrar
ICQ Lite - prefer trillian
iMesh - never managed to download anything using this
Morpheus 2.0 - didn't know still exists. use kazza lite
AOL Instant Messenger - prefer trillian
SpyWare Nuker - never heard of
Download Accelerator Plus - prefer flashget/getright
Ad-aware - i have no need to use this

so i use 0 programs of the top ten, because most of them suck

ad aware also work for those pop up's or do i have to install something else ?? any recomendations please?

Get Kazaa Lite. It solves everything.

By the way, I've noticed that the newest version of Kazaa Lite involves doing more copy-and-paste type stuff into different folders in addition to clicking through an installation. I guess the Kazaa people are trying to make it harder for others to "lite" their software.

Don't think my votes would go along with theirs.

I haven't tried the new Kazaa Lite yet, still very happy with my older version. But at one time or another I swore by WinMX, Kazaa, Morpheous, etc, etc and I ditched them all for Kazaa Lite. I think I am on 1.7.1 and have no plans to update until I have to.

As to the messengers on the list, I ditched them all for Trillian a few weeks back and have had a great experience so far.

I would also definitely place Ad-Aware ahead of Spyware nuker and I find myself using WinRar far more than Winzip these days. My .02 cents.

Disputant, i'm running 1.7.2 and also happy w/ it .. don't see the point to update to the latest version :) .. as long as it downloads, i'm cool :) ...

same opinion for WinRAR .. i've used them for quite some time ..

Is there any way to stop that "update to new version now?" window every time you open it? When you use an older version, that thing jumps out every time, doesn't it?

Yeah, I think it jumps out at everyone who is running an older version and I don't think anyone has found a way to stop it yet.

Sure I'll update . . . as soon as the lite verion of it is out! :)
