Top Notch Air Cooling HS w/ the ease of install & removal of the Thermaltake CL-P0075

Im looking for something to replace my xp-120 with that still has great ability to cool but that is easier to remove and reinstall when needed. This comes after I just a few days ago was trying to remove my xp-120 only 2 hours after seating it on my opteron and it ripped the opteron out of the socket, badly damaging 20 pins. The Thermaltake CL-P0075 is an improvement on the stock amd heatsink design but still doesnt reach the performance of the xp-120. Im looking for something that can, if its not there, its a big money making idea. Oc'ers are always swapping out cpus, reseating, re-applying TIM.

Thanks in advance for an insight on this guys.

:santa: Merry Christmas & Happy New Year as well :santa:

i've put off getting new ram because i hate reseating the thing. i don't think it's worth buying a whole new cooler, but then again i haven't had anything damaged, and don't reseat often...
i'd imagine you'd be fine with either si 120 or typhoon (if you want to keep the non-tower format).

the brand spankin new thermalright HR01. its a tower design though, but it uses the stock mounting of most motherboards. its also passive, but im sure it can use a fan if your really wanting to use one. svc.com has them for sale, i ordered 2 of them for my duallie build, ill let you know how they work out.

yeah i want something where i dont have to take out the mobo to install... like the design of the Thermaltake CL-P0075 :D

if you give it a good twist before pulling it off it wont rip the cpu out of the socket. also, using ceramique might help you a little as well. works almost as well as true AS5 but doesnt cure as hard as as5.
If you feel gutsy, you might try popping the top of your opty. that will give you absolutly amazing temps with your existing xp120. your really not going to get too much better for a retention system other than the stock cooler. that one is the fastest to install/remove but clearly doesnt work as well.

I dont know, i have an xp90. I dont use it right now but i didnt have any problems with the retention system. just use a screw driver and its fast and easy.

Alternatively, remove the fan from the cooler (or turn it off) and fold/prime/whatever for a while until the temps are up in the 50's, then turn off the pc and remove the heatsink asap - it should be warm enough that it'll just come right off.

well, theres the arctic cooling freezer pro. i got mine about a week ago and just installed it on my 3200 claw yesterday, replacing my classic thermalright slk 948u. the weight comparison was noticable, as was the mounting hardware. the arctic cooling just clips into place using amd based retention mechanism. the slk948, using AS ceramique, netted me a temp of 28-30c load with a vantec tornado blowing at about 75% peak power, not exactly the quietest situation. the AC freezer pro is at 26-28c load at full power. the only real thing i did before installing it is messing with the thermal paste. the stuff they send with the AC Pro heatsink looked wayyyy to powdery for me and i didnt wanna risk having to redo the job. i applied some AS ceramique and mixed the 2 compounds together. came out lookin medium gray in color, but apparently it worked out well. i did finally recieve both my HR-01s today and i must say they look amazing. the seem to be mostly bottom heavy as well rather then top, which eases my worry of having it rip off. g/l
