Toshiba CD-RW/DVD question

I just bought a Toshiba CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo for my PC (a steal @ $99!). I bought the OEM version which does come with CD-Maker 2000. Do I need some sort of software for DVD viewing or are the CODECs and everything else contained in the actual hardware. Will it just stream to Windows Media Player like CD movies? If I need other software, any recommendations on free/cheap DVD viewing software?

You will need software to view your DVD's, like PowerDVD, or WinDVD, etc...if you want to, you can use Windows Media Player, but it's a resource hog...
