Hello, I am on a 56k modem and would like to be able to use a tool like NetLimiter to moniter and limit how much FAH can download a second. The problem is, I can't seem to do this since FAH is running as a service. Does anyone know how I can go about doing this?

Also how do I make sure the service is even working? My web pages seem to be loading fine like im downloading nothing. Though when I use EMIII it shows no WU and with services.msc it says its running. So whats going on?

hmm.. I believe some software firewalls can let you limit what goes in and out. Also, even though it is running as a service, if link the Limiter program to the F@H Client itself (the EXE that runs the whole sh'bang)... does it not work?

lol... i think he has a good program... but needs help getteing it to recognize F@H as what needs limited. This is a unique question (at least for me) in this area and I'm gonna be following this thread closely... if this solution works for him... imagine what it would do for corporate networks who worry about bandwidth consumption!

Ok, well I just unistalled FAH and then restarted my PC. Then reinstalled FAH and restarted again. Now Netlimiter seems to be working well. Thanks for you guys help, I may still need it in the future if Netlimiter turns out to not be working after all. Since on 56k having a program downloading a few MB files is pretty harsh, it's nice to be able to limit what FAH does.

ok tenchi, good to hear.

How well does it work? Being on 56k i know your bandwidth is limited... say you set it to... 1k both ways... does it work?

Yeah Toll it does, it actaully works very well. The main feature I like about it, is the fact that I can limit any programs Upload and Download rates to whatever I want. It also has some other nice features though like a network moniter, and a feature that shows you how much data each program has uploaded/downlaoded since X time. There is also a shcedular feature which I have not used yet but I believe lets me set a program to get like 5 kb/s at 9pm and only 2kb/s at 11am. Anyway not to try to sell this app but if it works as well as it seems to be, I can finally get back in to FAH.

Sounds good. Might have to look into this one as an option for when I get set up at home. Winter break and summer break will hopefully be the last time I'll ever have to deal with dial-up. -Crosses fingers-

So far everything seems to be working well. I only had to update once since the first time, however the program did save my settings and FAH never went above the limit I set for it. At the same time I had a download going in a DL manager and limited it also, and was able to browse the net with no slow downs. So yeah I would say its working pretty well right now. If anything does go wrong I will make sure to let you guys/gals know.
