I've been an on and off Linux dabbler but never fully committed to making the long term switch. I am trying to setup a home webserver and the general consensus was Linux is the way to go. The internet suggested Debian or Fedora. I went with Debian. The installation went fine, but man I could not get past the boot screen. It was stuck on system monitoring. The internet offered 20 different suggestions and after a mere half an hour, I gave up and installed Ubuntu. No matter what the purists say, Ubuntu just works out of the box. It is a great OS for n00bs like me. Rant over!
Edit 1: Computer suddenly shut down.
Edit 2: Found the culprit. The cat jumped on the on/off button and turned it off.
