Awesome, what about my other questions? Is there a better way to wipe an hdd? Is the linux boot cd way for the ssd the best way to wipe my ssd?

Oh, and can I update my ssd's firmware after i do all the installs?

You can also pretty much just copy(cut)/paste the entire steam folder onto another drive and it works for the majority of the games that I have tested.

Done this...well not really, I have left the same steam install on my 2TB hdd for 2 years, and just simply run the executable inside, it repairs the application and im good to go. WoW doesnt require reinstalls either, you can migrate the folder without having to embed it into the system.

OCZ forum has some of the very best information and guides about their own SSD's and I have seen many sites recommend to go to the Ocz forum for information about using just about any SSD. In the Ocz SSD forum they do Ocz SSD's for sure.

The Guide linked below has just about as much hand-holding for updating the Ocz firmware as I have seen anywhere for series 3 Ocz SSD. It is an awesome guide with a very good tool.

Firmware update Tools for OCZ Vertex2/3, Agility2/3, Solid3, Revo, and Ibis SSD's

Awesome! Unless I'm misinformed about the latest version, it turns out my ssd shipped with the latest firmware (2.15 according to my device manager Hardware ID).

In any case, what should I use to wipe my HDD, Dariks Boot and Nuke?

Unrelated question. Should I upgrade my mobo bios? I went to asrock to upgrade and i got turned off by this message "We don't recommend users to update BIOS while the system is running well. "

I was under the impression that that was optimal for SSD's but not nessisarily hdd's. Would there be any decrease in speed if I just let windows do it, or if I just used dban?

What about my mobo question?

Thanks

I hesitate to flash a bios when everything is working fine.

Nuke the HDD with whatever you want. I use KilDisc the one's you mention likely work too.

Some of this stuff is just whatever fits one's own personal usage demands. There is not a good or better in most cases. I might even just let Windows format my HDD. Depends on my mood at the time and how big a hurry I might be in.

I've pretty much always just used Windows to my drives unless I will be giving them to someone else
