when i try to change any of the settings for my memory and restart the computer nothing happens. i've tried to adjust voltage but this makes little difference.

any ideas anyone?

Humm what are you changing also can you give more spec's on the hardware you are using hsf,PSU, etc etc?

im adjusting all the timer settings, i have a Ax-7 with a 7v mod delta fan and a 1700+ rated cpu running at 2400 mhz at the moment. Temps at about 45oC according to sandra though i dont know how accurate that is. I havnt adjusted the fsb/dram ratio as i dont know what to adjust it too.

What are you setting it to? and what was it set to before you changed it?

What does makes little difference mean? Does it post? Do you have Sandra and/or can you look at the settings once you boot to see they are in effect?

I just RMAed a NF7-S rev2 that would not take ANY changes to the bios and that included resetting the time. I don't think that is what you mean.

O.k my settings are 8-3-3-2.5 and if i say try to change them to 6-2-2-2 and save and exit the computer seems to restart without my monitor coming on. i need to clear the cmos before the monitor comes on.

OK, sounds familar.....unfortunately. Let's try something real simple. Clear the CMOS and then reset/change the time --- doesn't matter if it it wrong or right just change it. Don't change anything else. Save an exit.

If that doesn't work, RMA it.

i dont have a problem with changing any other settings in bios, just the memory ones. What does RMA it mean?

RMA = Return Merchandise Authorization Maybe it is a US term but it means that the seller is authorizing you to return the merchandise. Sometimes the return is for replacement and others it maybe for refund.

I would think twinmos PC3200 should be able to handle 6-2-2-2 without a problem. Have you tested the memory using Memtest86? This will determine if the memory is good or failing. If the memory passes Memtest86 then we should be able to concentrate on the mobo.

PS. You happen to be a student at Oxford Univ.? If so, what college? Real nice town! We got friends that live there.

o.k i shall give it a try!! I graduated in the summer, used to go to St. John's, and yes Oxford is a wicked town!!

ive had some success, now managed to get the settings down to 4-3-2-2. i used memtest86 and found no errors. Voltage currently on 2.9 and fsb:ram is 3:3, would like to get it down to 4-2-2-2 so if u have any ideas or reasons as to why its staying at 3......

cheers

Super! You can continue to work but you're probably not dealing with a lot of payback (couple percent max) for the work. I did some testing awhile back with my KT333 mobo but I'll bet that while your numbers may vary a little, the results will be of the same order. A quick look at this link shows you what I did.
