k, thanx. Will look into it once I get my motherboard repaired. Maybe the mobo is somehow locked? Anyone here know the m848LU?

The only reason I haven't been answering their questions was that, here in the U.S., it was NIGHT TIME. I WAS ASLEEP.

ok.

The numbers on the chip are as follows:

AXDA1800DLT3C 9438056250034
JIUHB0311VPMW (m)(c) 1999 AMD

woahhhh...

Nice freaky chip you got there... and.. and you got that.. few weeks ago at newegg?.. woah you lucky. Your chip is unlocked, congrats yo..

If for some reason you can't get the motherboard to allow multiplier changing, you can look into the "wire trick". You would then be able to assign particular multipliers if I'm not mistaken.
Yea you're not mistaken. hehe

So problem must be with mobo. Will look into matter.
Yea like what brennan77 said, you might have to perform wire trick to use specific multiplier if your mobo doesn't let you change multi..

I'm going to try the wire trick to unlock to 12.5 at 166 FSB, that'll bring it up to 2075. That's good for me, I just hope the chip will handle. But from what I've heard, it'll do just fine.

both Tbred and Barton have the same pin layout, it doesn't really matters which one you use, but just to be extra sure use TBred

k. Man, I can't wait until I get my mobo back... I haven't even sent it off yet! I can't really do anything with my chip, which some have said has great capabilities. Thanx everyone for their help.

yay!

I got my mobo, and this time a NForce2. BIOSTAR M7NCD, specifically. Will be working on OCing it 2nite.

I'm glad you got a new board, with a chip like that it will be much nicer than getting your old one fixed or whatever. oc wisely.

But I still cannot change the FSB on it. It appears to not have that option, though I thought all NForce2 boards did?

FSB=290 (DDR, of course) and AGP is up at 82MHz. BTW, the CPU is running at 1667.

So if your FSB is at 145 then you are overclocking the FSB! (Default of 11.5 multi and FSB 145 = 1667Mhz). Although I dont understand why your AGP is at 82 unless there is no lock on it (all NF2 can have the AGP locked) or you have switched the AGP lock off? Make sure you have the AGP locked in the bios

I changed it. Of course I am changing the FSB. That is not the problem. The MULTIPLIER is.

Thats not what you said here. Anyway you will need to check your manual as to how to change the multi as it is a week 11 then it is most definitely not factory locked. I am guessing but make sure your system performance is at expert and your cpu ratio is NOT on default to change multi.
