I've read some threads about people still buying unlocked amd's from newegg.com Do you guys think they would have any unlocked barton 2500+ or 1700+ or even 2100+ anymore?

that is going to be a chance you'll have to take.
i've read post from people getting locked and unlocked.

Bartons are pretty good, although mine takes 2v to get to 2370 MHz. The problem is that they are all locked, you might want a 2600+ Barton (multi @ 11.5x) at your fsb to get 2.48 GHz.

Might try smaller mom & pop shops as this has worked for me as well as others. Might pay a few bucks more but you know what your getting.

man now im really considering getting a Barton 2600+ after all the great information. Im glad you told me it takes alot of power to get the 2500+ up there and cpu database shows the 2600+ doing better than the 2500+

The 2600+ may clock higher, but it has half the L2 cache so clock-for-clock the Bartons win.

The cpu database is down for now, what is the difference of the 2600+ Barton from the 2500+ Barton in that database?

for some reason they dont show the 2600+ barton there but i know that it overclocks better than the 2500+ with the correct steppings.

Do you know where you get this information that the 2600+ Barton is an overall better overclocker than the 2500+ Barton?

It has a higher multiplier is all. You don't have to get fsb as fast to get same speed. If they were unlocked there would be no overclocking difference.

yeah i guess theres no sold proof that the 2600+ is better i was just going with what i heard. anyway as you can see today i went and luckily found a 2500+. Its in my sig
