Is it worth the hassle?

I'll admit that the thought of superglueing and putting conductive paint on my retail chip doesn't exactly give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

If the thought of applying sticky glue to holes smaller than the size of a pin tip, then globbing a bunch of of condictive liquid in a line as thin as the hair on you head, then you might not wanna attempt it. I fried my XP1700 because i had 2 adjacent bridges shorting out.

On the other hand, if you got ba**s of steel, and don't get sweaty palms at the thought of losing 100 bucks, then i hope all turns out well.

I strongly recomend using a multimeter to test for shorts before plugging it back in... then again my XP isn't unlocked (I only got it today)

xp1600+ unlocked

Unlocked, locked, partially unlocked, unlocked, locked, unlocked. Guess I'm a little paranoid cuz whenever I have a stability problem I lock my cpu again, for fear the defogger paint has shifted or crumbled. I can unlock it on the first try now, and even paint a bridge or two freehand.

Crayon + defogger method.
